Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SOLVE) Awards is an initiative by the Indonesian Professionals’ Association (IPA) to recognize and promote social innovators and social entrepreneurs within Indonesia.
Simultaneously, SOLVE Awards strives to open up new collaboration opportunities for like-minded people and to increase public awareness for these change makers’ causes in the region.
To be held for the first time in 2011, SOLVE Awards 2011 will be divided into three main parts:
SOLVE Awards is fully initiated and organized by volunteers who share the vision and passion to contribute back to community, and desire to encourage growth of social innovators and entrepreneurs to address societal challenges in Indonesia. The public is our additional team member, playing a critical role during the selection process. After all, we believe that everyone can be a change maker.
Social Innovation & Entrepreneurship (SOLVE) Awards arose from the initiatives of IPA members, Indonesian diasporas working and studying in Singapore, seeking an avenue to contribute back to their native soil, Indonesia—a country of mounting potentials, currently burdened by a similarly high pile of socioeconomic problems waiting to be solved.
These challenges, we believe, are not unsolvable. Often, all it takes are simple innovative solutions, powered by people who care and possess the will, capacity, and courage to tackle them. These brave and innovative people are already scattered all over Indonesia, currently combatting societal problems and issues of their choice in their respective communities. Most of the time, what these social innovators and entrepreneurs are lacking is support—and this is what we aim to offer them.
Being geographically constrained to help solve these problems first-hand on the field does not stop us from helping these social heroes in their fight. Equipped with our expertise and skills in each of our fields yet united in one goal, and with the advantage of being located in Asia’s finest financial hub, through SOLVE Awards we aim to create a regional platform to for everyday societal change makers in Indonesia to garner support from various elements of the community in order to widen and deepen their impact.
Through SOLVE Awards, we aim to share and promote social solutions and innovations taking place in Indonesia to benefit wider communities.
The main objectives of SOLVE Awards are as follow:
Going forward, SOLVE Awards hopes to become a bi-annual event where change makers gather to exchange best practices, deepen networks and spring new ideas towards eradication of poverty and social challenges in Indonesia.
